Transfer: Miami's Thearon Collier Possibly Heading to USC

That's the word from last week.  Thearon was rumored to have been kicked off the team along with Steven Wesley but the local beat writers are dispelling that talk. He reportedly met with Randy Shannon earlier in the week to talk about his future and that's when the SC rumors came up.

My guess is, Thearon, who grew up in Miami with the bad crowd and also has gone through a rough year with his mom suffering a stroke and losing his son to a miscarriage earlier in the year is looking for an out and fresh start.

If the rumors end up being true, it'll be interesting to see if the NCAA sees this as a "hardship" case and waives the 1-year transfer rule.  Thearon could come in and immediately contribute on special teams as a kick/punt return man.

Rumor: Marc Tyler Transferring to Cincinnati

That's the word going around.  Would fall in line with Vidal Hazelton's previous tweets about there being more transfers in addition to Brandon Carswell.

Rumor: Malik Jackson Talking to Tennessee About Transferring

Here we go again. Haven't heard anything regarding Malik but it passes the logical test. Malik saw his PT decrease last year when Nick Perry and Devon Kennard emerged and apparently there are grade issues here which have been a problem since his recruitment days.

Hope this isn't true because we are thin at the DE spot.

Rumor: Seantrel Henderson Now Heading to Miami?

Hearing from a source that Seantrel is headed to SC in the next few days.  I rarely post things like this but that's what I'm hearing so take it for what it is!

Update: Still hearing that Seantrel is coming but changing "next few days" to "near future" since time tables change fairly often.

Update 7/1:  St. Paul Pioneer Press is reporting that Seantrel is now leaning towards Miami.  Strange thing is this is what I heard initially last week and then was told that Seantrel's father wanted him to go to SC after meeting with the coaches the 1st time around.  Something must have changed after CLK & staff made their visit because why else would a 2nd visit be necessary?  If Seantrel wasn't on-board the 1st time they visited, there's no need for a 2nd visit.  Only thing that makes sense is if Seantrel was on-board after the 1st visit and then changed his mind, prompting another 2nd emergency visit.

Rumor: Jordan Campbell First to Transfer Post-Sanctions?

That's the rumor going around. It would make sense since Jordan has been on thin ice with CLK due to off-field issues. He's also been buried on the depth chart and can't seem to make up any ground. He might just want a fresh start and a chance to play.

If the rumors are true, I wonder what he'll do with his SC tattoo?

Rumor: Aaron Douglas Planning to Transfer to USC in 2011?

Aaron Douglas, who was a freshman All-American offensive tackle last season at Tennessee, has decided to transfer to Arizona Western next season.  The rumor going around is, after a year in Arizona, Aaron plans to reunite with Coach Kiffin at SC.  Lane was responsible for moving Aaron from tight-end to offensive tackle last season.

This would be a big addition to the program since there is a shortage of elite offensive linemen available in this year's class.  SC has already lost out on Christian Westerman (Texas) and Matt Hegarty (Notre Dame) and will have to fight for guys like Cyrus Kouandjio.

With Tyron Smith eligible to head for the draft next season, SC needs to pick up at least 2-3 tackles this class.  Having Aaron transfer in would be big in making sure our tackle spots are covered for 2011/2012.

Rumor: D.J. Morgan Looking to ASU to Play With Brother?

D.J. took an unofficial visit to ASU yesterday and the rumor is that he is interested in joining up with his brother Josh, who played at Pasadena City College last year, as part of a package deal to play in Tempe. This is obviously very surprising news for SC fans since D.J. has been a firm commit to USC for a while now.

Personally, I don't think there is much to worry about here.  The way I see it is, if ASU bites at the bait and decides to go after D.J. via Josh, assuming the two would even follow through with commitments, SC could counter-offer and close the door on the situation.  That sounds arrogant, but anyone that has followed D.J. knows he is a big-time SC fan; he and Dillon Baxter have served as the D.J. Shoemate/Chris Galippo type recruiting coordinators for the class.  There's a reason why no major school has seriously tried to sway D.J. elsewhere; they know D.J. is a lock to SC.

Rumors Circulating Around Alex Stepheson

Lot of rumors going around that current Tar Heel, Alex Stepheson, is considering transferring back home to Southern California because of issues in his family.  The rumors at this point are completely unsubstantiated so take it with a grain of salt, but if true, USC is expected to be in the running among other schools.  With the lack of quality big men left in the '08 class, the coaching staff will likely key in on Alex.  You would also think with SC's desperate need for a talented low-post player, it would be logical for Alex to favor SC.  He had nice things to say about SC and Coach Floyd when we met in the Sweet 16 last year, so that is a positive.  I'll try to update as things unfold.
