Former USC Commit Joe Adams Suffers Mild Stroke

Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino said receiver Joe Adams was sidelined today because of a “mild stroke” he suffered last week.

That’s right. He said a mild stroke.

“It’s just something we had to deal with all week long,” Petrino said. “He’s doing really well. We were very concerned about him. But he’s doing great. And I don’t know what the diagnosis is, what the near future holds, but he’s in great hands and our trainers and our doctors did an excellent job.”

Petrino said the Razorbacks aren’t exactly sure when he suffered the stroke, but guessed it may have been Monday. Remarkably, Adams practiced Tuesday and Wednesday. Adams spent part of the week in Little Rock undergoing tests, but was with the team today.

Adams stood on the sideline wearing his jersey. He left the field at the end of the game and had a smile on his face.

Scary stuff.  Back in '07, Joe committed to SC but ended up flipping his commitment to Arkansas on signing day to stay closer to home.  SC recruited him as a cornerback but he's currently playing receiver at Ark and doing well. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Looks like another top 5 class.  Amazing how T.J. Bryant dropped off the top 100 list when earlier in the season they were hyping him as the best CB prospects ever to come out of Tallahassee. 

Joe Adams Commits to USC

Behind Patrick Johnson (Miami commit) I thought Joe Adams was the most impressive DB at the USC Rising Stars Camp.  Very excited to see Joe commit to SC.  With the commitment we are now up to 14 total commits.  You can find the announcement video here.

• Remember to watch the NBA draft tonight on ESPN @ 7pm EST.  Let's hope Nick sneaks into the lottery and Gabe stays in the 1st round.  I predict Nick goes to the Hornets @ #13.   

• Some footage from Day 1 and Day 2 of the USC Rising Star Camp this weekend.  I was really impressed with Joe Adams on the defensive side of the ball.  He played tight in coverage and showed the speed and hips necessary to be shutdown CB.  I'd imagine the coaching staff has him up high on their priority list with Patrick Johnson reaffirming his commitment to Miami a few days ago. 

• Some rare video footage of Romeo Miller and Ryan Boatwright from USCHoops.TV.  Romeo doesn't look that bad, but you can tell he's still quite a ways from getting any significant PT.  He might be able to create on the offensive end, but judging from his build, he'd get demolished on the defense.
