Darnell was claimed off waivers by the 49ers less than a week after he was released by the Raiders:
Bing, a fourth-round pick by the Oakland Raiders out of Southern California in 2006, spent his rookie season on injured reserve with a neck injury. He was cut loose by Oakland on Wednesday because the Raiders had an excess of safeties following the signings of free agents Donovin Darius, Colin Branch and B.J. Ward.
Apparently Darnell wanted out of Oakland from the get-go.
