One of my favorite recruits out of the 2008 class and current players on the team. It's been exciting to see Curtis get a lot of carries during winter work-outs. I can't wait to see how he responds to full contact during Spring practices.
A player receiving a lot of buzz during winter work-outs is Curtis McNeal. No surprise why when watching the video above @ 58 seconds and seeing him exploding out of the backfield and showing nice shiftiness.
I have to toot my own horn in saying that I was high on Moody since 2007. There's no doubt in my mind that if Moody was 3-4 inches taller, he would have been rated a top 5 back in the '08 class.
In terms of style, the popular comparison that most people are making right now is Jacquizz Rodgers out of Oregon State, which I don't really see apart from their short stature; I believe the more apt comparison is Noel Devine, the RB at West Virginia. Both Devine and Moody have the unreal balance that make them special, while also having the ability to make 1-cut and take it for 6, or run tough between the tackles.
I still doubt Moody will get any significant PT this season barring any injuries, but he'll be a great back to bring in to change up the pace. With small backs like Jacquizz Rodgers and Keola Antolin succeeding last season; it will be interesting to see if Coach Carroll uses Moody in the same role against certain defenses.
Moody will definitely be one of the players I keep a close eye on during Spring practices. Can't wait to see what he can do in full pads. Watching him break out of the backfield and go one on one with Taylor Mays will be a sight.
Nice interview with Thomas who is back on campus working out with the team, getting ready for another season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The video is worth watching for the clip of Thomas getting crossed up by Curtis "Moody" McNeal alone.
Nice to see Curtis getting some recognition in Rivals.com running back category rankings as a "home-run threat". Lot of people don't think too much of Curtis due to his size, but I'm looking forward to seeing this kid in a Trojan uniform simply because he's a playmaker. He likely will never be a starting back at SC, but his incredible balance and toughness will force the coaches to put him somewhere on the field.
