Fear the green jersey:
When Notre Dame faces USC this fall there will be no surprise, the Irish will be wearing green.
Coach Charlie Weis made the announcement Friday, saying the team would wear green jerseys to honor the 1977 team. Weis was a senior at Notre Dame when the 11th-ranked Irish wore their normal blue jerseys for warm ups, then donned green for the game and defeated No. 5 USC 49-19 en route to the national championship.
Those same jerseys were recently ranked 9th on CNNSI's "College Football's Worst Uniforms" list. More so than the team's uniform choice, I'm curious as to what Weis will wear. Maybe he'll throw the oversized hooded sweatshirt out and skip all pretension this year by wearing those one-piece body-length jammies with the pads on the feet? With the amount of players Notre Dame lost last year, I'd get ready to go straight to bed too...
